You may have heard about this trendy beauty treatment, the AHA peeling, that offers instant skin glowing, rejuvenation and also works on acne scars, pores and wrinkles. At Biotyspa we offer certified organic AHA lactic enzyme peel which means without using any chemicals and abrasive products on your skin.

What is AHA? What’s the benefits for your skin and complexion? Does it suit all skin type? How often should you do AHA peel? We’ll tell you everything here below.

What is AHA?

Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA), are natural acids derived from fruits and vegetables such as oranges or lemons.

What are the benefits of the AHA peeling?

Glowing complexion
Alpha hydroxy acids act as chemical exfoliants, which help to loosen and get rid of the dead skin cells on your skin’s surface. The acids are more effective than abrasive exfoliants, such as scrubs and cloths, according to the Harvard Medical School.

Skin Lightening Effects
Sun damage, scars and other health problems can lead to hyperpigmentation and skin discoloration on your face. Although a cosmetic concealer can camouflage the discolorations, it doesn’t correct your actual skin tone. AHA can help to inhibit melanin formation and remove discolorations that leave your skin tone dark.

Increases Absorption
Surface debris and dead skin inhibits your skin’s ability to absorb the active ingredients in your skincare creams and serums. Alpha hydroxy acids remove these surface deposits to expose the underlying cells. They can optimize your skin’s absorption levels so you get the maximum results from your favorite skincare products.

Fewer Wrinkles
AHA can reduce the severity of surface lines and wrinkles in a few ways: the acids take off the top, damaged layer of skin, revealing less-damaged skin beneath and allowing for the regrowth of skin cells. The acids also may enhance your body’s production of collagen, the protein that plumps and firms the skin surface.*

Does AHA peel suit all skin type?

You’ve two types of AHA peel: the chemical ones and the enzymes ones. Enzymes are reported to diminish scars, age spots, fine lines, and discoloration, and may also penetrate the skin to cleanse pores and improve skin tone and texture.

At Biotyspa, we always chose the natural way and less abrasive treatments to your skin, that’s why we offer two chemical-free AHA peels:

#1 Light peeling with 13% of AHA
This peeling can suit all skin type, expect very sensitive/irritated/reactive or broken skin. It offers an instant glowing effect without any skin damages, following by an advanced facial.
If you have sensitive skin, you may ask your therapist first.

How often should you do AHA peel?

Winter season is the perfect time to do AHA peel. We generally recommend to do a winter cure of one every three weeks for normal skin OR an intense cure of once/week for acne scars, large pores, dull skin, skin sagging, fine lines or wrinkles.

Can I do AHA peel at home?

Only dermatologist, clinic and some beauty salons can offer professional AHA peel.
However, you can use some products at home to lightly peel your skin from impurities and dead cells, to offer cells renewal and stimulate collagen production such as the Lactic gel cleanser ($45) + Toner ($43) + Night renewal treatment ($72) from OrganicSpa skincare, certified organic.
